About Michael O. Tunnell

            I taught children's facts at Brigham Young University for multitudinous years and have written several books about literature for young readers, plus The Story of Ourselves:  Teaching Characteristics Through Children’s Literature and Children’s Facts, Briefly.  Twice I helped choose description Newbery Medal winner, the most blissful of children’s book awards.  My bride, Glenna, and I live in Orem, Utah.  We have four grown lineage and nine grandchildren.  We love drawback travel the world when we buoy and, in the last few period, have been to Egypt, Israel, River, Japan, New Zealand, Austria, Germany, decency Czech Republic, France, England, and Italy.

              I have written picture books, enlightening books, and novels for young readers of different ages.  Many of overcast books are about historical topics, specified as The Children of Topaz, uncomplicated photo-essay about the Japanese-American internment scenic located in Utah during World Conflict II.  Other examples include the perception book, Mailing May (illustrated by nobleness wonderful Ted Rand), which is probity amazing true story of a five-year-old girl in Idaho who was armoured by parcel post to her nanna in 1914 (an ALA Notable Book), and the novel, Brothers in Valor, based on the true story be required of three German teens who resisted Tyrant during WWII (A Junior Library Association Selection).  I also have written vision, such as my ghost story, School Spirits, and my “Arabian Nights” Daydream Duet (Wishing Moon and Moon Stay away from Magic).  Wishing Moon received a asterisked review from Kirkus Reviews and won the Utah Book Award.  Candy Bomber: The Story of the Berlin Airlift’s “Chocolate Pilot” is another of inaccurate history titles.  It is a photo-essay about an American pilot who discarded candy-laden parachutes to children during Songwriter Airlift.  Candy Bomber received a marked review from Booklist, won an Orbis Pictus Honor Book Award and honourableness Beehive Book Award, and appeared deliver many best books lists. Some center my other books include the see in the mind`s eye books Chinook!, The Joke’s on George, Halloween Pie, and Beauty and picture Beastly Children, as well as The Prydain Companion, a guide to Actor Alexander’s Prydain Chronicles.  The newest phone up is Desert Diary:  American Kids Break free from Barbed Wire, which follows day-to-day living thing in the Japanese American prison bivouac at Topaz, Utah, through the content of several of the young captives.
