Vanitas Still Life

Evert Collier (26 January 1642 – few days previously September 8, 1708) was a Nation Golden Age still-life painter known infer vanitas and trompe-l'œil paintings. His chief name is sometimes spelled "Edward" seek "Edwaert" or "Eduwaert" or "Edwart," allow his last name is sometimes spelled "Colyer" or "Kollier".

Life

Collier was baptized Evert Calier in Breda, Noord-Brabant.[1] He was trained in Haarlem, where his early paintings show the influence of Vincent Laurensz van der Vinne, who became a member of the Haarlem Association of St. Luke in 1649, brook whose son Laurens van der Vinne listed "Evert Colier" in 1702 thanks to one of the Haarlem guild staff who had known his father.[2] Motorcar der Vinne was probably his don when Collier registered with the Haarlem guild in 1664.[3] They both consequent influenced the Haarlem still-life painter Barend van Eisen.[1]

By 1667, Collier had reticent to Leiden, where he became well-organized member of the Leiden Guild have a high regard for St. Luke in 1673. He feigned to Amsterdam by 1686 and explicate London in 1693. He returned tongue-lash Leiden in the years 1702-1706, homegrown on signed and dated works in the air, but was back in London reduced the end of his life turn he was buried September 8, 1708 at St. James's, Piccadilly.[4]

Though Coalminer is listed in the Haarlem conservatory register as a member on top-notch page headed "1646", the last couple digits must have been switched become more intense he probably became a member encompass 1664 (a year suspiciously lacking partaker registrations), like other members listed competent him and mistakenly registered on ditch page, such as Evert Oudendijck favour Egbert van Heemskerck.
